What is indapamide + perindopril used for?
The selected product has one licensed indication:
Essential hypertension in adults when perindopril alone has not adequately controlled blood pressure.
How does indapamide + perindopril work?
Perindopril blocks ACE through its active form, perindoprilat, helping blood vessels relax. Indapamide increases sodium and water loss through the kidneys. Their blood-pressure-lowering effects are additive.
indapamide + perindopril preparations and strengths
Tablet
Route: Oral
Strengths: 5 mg + 1.25 mg
How to take indapamide + perindopril
Follow the dispensing label and prescriber’s instructions. Food reduces conversion of perindopril to its active form, so the selected product should preferably be taken before a meal.
Swallow the film-coated tablet with a glass of water.
Seek advice during significant vomiting, diarrhoea or dehydration because blood pressure and kidney function may be affected.
Do not stop treatment without discussing it with the prescriber, unless urgent safety advice says otherwise.

indapamide + perindopril in pregnancy
This combination is not recommended in early pregnancy and is contraindicated later in pregnancy because ACE inhibitors can harm fetal kidney development and indapamide is best avoided. Contact the prescriber promptly when planning pregnancy or if pregnancy occurs.
indapamide + perindopril while breastfeeding
The combination is not recommended while breastfeeding. Indapamide may expose the infant and reduce milk production. An alternative should be considered, particularly for a newborn, premature or unwell infant.
indapamide + perindopril interactions
Important interactions include medicines affecting kidney function, potassium, blood pressure or angioedema risk.
Lithium
May raise lithium concentrations and cause toxicity; concurrent use is generally not recommended.
NSAIDs, including ibuprofen
May weaken blood-pressure control and increase kidney injury and high-potassium risks, especially with dehydration or kidney impairment.
Sacubitril/valsartan
Concurrent use is contraindicated because it substantially increases angioedema risk.
