How does glucose monohydrate + potassium chloride + sodium chloride work?
Sodium and chloride support fluid volume, osmotic balance and acid–base regulation. Potassium supports nerve signalling, muscle contraction and cardiac electrical activity, while glucose supplies energy. After glucose is metabolised, the remaining fluid can become physiologically hypotonic, so sodium and fluid balance require monitoring.
How to take glucose monohydrate + potassium chloride + sodium chloride
This solution is given by intravenous infusion under clinical supervision. Staff inspect the solution and container, use sterile equipment and check compatibility before adding another medicine.
Tell staff promptly if the infusion site becomes painful, red, swollen or blistered.
