What is Cemivameran used for?

How does Cemivameran work?
Lipid nanoparticles deliver non-replicating mRNA into cells for temporary production of the KP.2 spike antigen. This stimulates antibody and cellular immune responses without exposure to live coronavirus.

How to take Cemivameran
Cemivameran is prepared and injected into a muscle by a healthcare professional. It is not taken by mouth or self-administered.
Tell the vaccinator about previous serious vaccine allergies, current severe illness, fainting with injections, bleeding disorders or anticoagulant treatment.
The pre-filled syringe is ready to use and must not be diluted, shaken or mixed with another product in the same syringe.
Different injectable vaccines should be given at separate injection sites.

- Pain or swelling at the injection site
- Tiredness
- Headache
- Muscle or joint pain
- Chills or fever
- Diarrhoea
- Nausea or vomiting
- Swollen lymph nodes
Get urgent medical advice
- Severe allergic reaction, including breathing difficulty, collapse, or facial or throat swelling
- Myocarditis or pericarditis, which may cause persistent chest pain, shortness of breath or palpitations
Cemivameran in pregnancy
Product-specific pregnancy data for the KP.2 vaccine are not yet available, but evidence from earlier Comirnaty vaccines has not identified increased adverse pregnancy outcomes, and use during pregnancy is permitted. Discuss current eligibility or concerns with the vaccination team, midwife or prescriber.
Cemivameran while breastfeeding
Cemivameran can be used while breastfeeding. Evidence from earlier Comirnaty vaccines has not shown harm to breastfed infants.
Cemivameran interactions
Cemivameran has no conventional metabolic medicine interactions, but some treatments may affect administration or the immune response.
Immunosuppressants
The immune response may be reduced; a specialist may help coordinate vaccination with current or planned treatment.
Oral anticoagulants
Intramuscular injection may cause bruising or bleeding. The vaccinator should assess anticoagulation stability and use appropriate injection technique.
