The SCE Respiratory sits twice per year — February and September — and covers a curriculum that spans asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, pleural disease, pulmonary infection, bronchiectasis, pulmonary vascular disease, sleep medicine, and occupational lung disease. The guideline landscape is split between BTS/SIGN, NICE, GOLD, and ERS/ATS, and your question bank must reflect all four.

StudyPRN

StudyPRN's Respiratory bank contains approximately 676 questions written by consultant respiratory physicians. The content covers the JRCPTB curriculum and the clinical quality is solid. At 676 questions across a curriculum this broad, the coverage per domain is moderate — adequate for the common topics (asthma, COPD, pleural disease) but potentially thin for less common areas (occupational lung disease, sleep medicine, interventional pulmonology).

Pricing is approximately £149 to £199 for three months. Standard StudyPRN limitations apply.

iatroX

iatroX's SCE Respiratory bank contains over 1,500 questions aligned to BTS, NICE, GOLD, and ERS/ATS guidelines. The ILD domain — where many candidates are weakest — contains over 180 questions covering IPF (diagnosis, antifibrotic eligibility, MDT discussion), connective tissue disease-related ILD, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, sarcoidosis, and the rarer ILDs that appear in the exam.

The severe asthma biologic content covers all five currently approved agents (omalizumab, mepolizumab, benralizumab, dupilumab, tezepelumab) with questions testing eligibility criteria, biomarker-driven selection, and NICE TA access requirements. This level of detail is essential — the exam tests which biologic to choose for which patient based on specific eosinophil counts, IgE levels, FeNO, and comorbidity profiles.

Blood gas interpretation (in kPa) and spirometry questions are distributed throughout the bank rather than isolated in a single domain, reflecting how they appear in the real exam — integrated into clinical scenarios rather than as standalone interpretation exercises.

The adaptive algorithm ensures ILD, sleep medicine, and occupational lung disease receive proportional attention even when your clinical practice skews toward asthma and COPD. All included at £29 per month or £99 per year.

The ILD question

The single most important differentiator for SCE Respiratory preparation is ILD depth. ILD accounts for 10 to 12 per cent of the exam, yet it is the domain where candidates consistently score lowest. If your question bank does not have substantial ILD coverage — classification, HRCT pattern recognition described in text, MDT discussion principles, antifibrotic criteria — you are underprepared for a significant portion of the exam.
