Core Revision Question Banks: AKT, MSRA and UK Diplomas Compared

Featured image for Core Revision Question Banks: AKT, MSRA and UK Diplomas Compared

Core Revision is a current option for clinicians comparing MRCGP AKT, MSRA and several UK diploma question banks. Its public offer combines questions with revision guides, explanation tools and study planning. The useful purchase decision is whether those resources address your next assessment task, and whether a single-exam package or a broader learning subscription fits the way you intend to study.

This guide is published by iatroX, which offers competing question banks. The comparison uses public provider and examining-body information checked on 1 November 2026. It describes the advertised products and gives you a practical inspection method; it does not claim results from a paid-product comparison trial.

What Core Revision currently covers

Core Revision's catalogue lists MRCGP AKT, MSRA, PLAB and UKMLA preparation alongside diploma products. The relevant diploma overlap with iatroX is DCSRH, CGM/DGM, DCH, DRCOG, DOccMed and DTM&H. Core Revision also lists DipMSK and DipExMed; those are outside iatroX's current question-bank catalogue.

The provider advertises topic questions, timed practice, revision guides and tools named Core Lens, Core Compass and Core Calendar. Those names describe its advertised learning system. Inspect the sample and the selected product to establish what is included, how progress is represented and whether the task resembles the assessment you are preparing for.

The pricing page advertises a £49.99 one-off diploma purchasing unit and describes no automatic renewal. Check the selected product's access period and checkout terms before buying: the public pages reviewed did not provide a sufficiently consistent basis for one duration claim across all diploma products. Treat access length as a product-specific condition, especially if preparation spans more than one sitting.

A single diploma package can be a sensible purchase for someone who wants that one bank and has a workable way to review errors. A broader subscription becomes more relevant when its additional banks or guided learning functions will actually be used. Neither purchasing unit is automatically better value for every candidate.

Current iatroX all-access pricing is £29/month or £99/year in the UK; US$29/month or US$99/year elsewhere. Full paid-bank access is included in all-access. Up to 10 new sample questions per day, shared across exams and subject to availability, with explanations and no account required. One complete guided Tutor session is included with a verified free account; continued Tutor use is included in all-access.

MRCGP AKT and MSRA require different preparation decisions

For MRCGP AKT, compare clinical knowledge teaching with the coverage of evidence interpretation and organisational or professional topics. A useful explanation identifies why a plausible alternative is less appropriate in the supplied primary-care context. Use the RCGP's AKT information to establish the current examination requirements, rather than assuming every bank's topic headings have identical meaning.

For MSRA, distinguish clinical problem solving from professional dilemmas. Core Revision publicly advertises both clinical and professional-dilemma preparation. Inspect the actual response tasks in a sample: a clinical single-best-answer block, ranking responses and selecting three appropriate actions are different activities. The NHS England MSRA guidance is the examination reference.

The iatroX MSRA bank provides clinical question practice and explanations. Its timed SBA practice should not be presented as reproducing every professional-dilemma response format or the full official assessment. Choose additional preparation for a task the bank does not supply, rather than assuming that one MSRA label guarantees complete format rehearsal.

DTM&HIdentify the awarding body, course route and paper types before choosing revisionDTM&H questions

For DCSRH, the College's current route includes portfolio work, trainer-assessed clinical activity, OTA and AHD. A question-bank purchase is not enrolment in that whole process. Compare its teaching against the component you need to practise.

For CGM/DGM, the RCP describes CGM as a knowledge credential, with DGM adding clinical assessment. For DCH, written knowledge and the clinical circuit also need separate planning. These distinctions prevent a good written resource being asked to do a different educational job.

DTM&H adds another important inspection question. Core Revision's product page advertises specimen-image and short-answer learning alongside its MCQs. If those are your gaps, inspect those activities directly. The Society of Apothecaries describes the independent examination and approved-course requirements; another institution's DTM&H assessment should not automatically be treated as the same examination.

A worked sample-review exercise

Imagine two fictional ten-question practice sessions. In session A you answer eight correctly, but six of those answers were familiar from a previous attempt. In session B you answer seven correctly on new items and can explain why the strongest competing option is wrong in five of them.

Which session provides the better evidence about understanding? The percentages alone cannot answer. Session A includes recognition of familiar material; session B has a different exposure history and a separate explanation check. Neither ten-question result is a pass prediction.

Now inspect one explanation from the resource you are considering. Write the finding that supports the answer, the plausible alternative you rejected and the changed fact that would make you reconsider. If the explanation still leaves a specific uncertainty, identify the next learning activity: source reading, another worked case, discussion or a Tutor question tied to that uncertainty.

In iatroX, use question-linked Tutor for that defined discussion. For example, ask why the investigation result changes the interpretation, rather than asking for an entire subject summary. Then record one follow-up question to attempt later. That is a concrete reason to choose the connected workflow; access to unrelated banks alone is not the benefit.

Questions before choosing a package

Is Core Revision a course or a question bank?

Its current site advertises question packages with associated guides and study tools. Check the selected product for teaching sessions, feedback and other inclusions. Do not infer live teaching or formal qualification enrolment from the word package.

Does buying one of these banks satisfy the diploma's training requirements?

Use the examining body's current requirements. Several of these qualifications include approved training, supervised evidence, clinical assessment or portfolio work in addition to written knowledge. Choose revision to support the relevant component.

Can the same learning also support CPD?

A genuine learning point can inform a reviewed reflection and an appropriate follow-up action. iatroX CPD provides a separate record workflow. The usefulness or acceptance of a particular record depends on its content and the requirements of the relevant portfolio; a bank subscription does not confer automatic accreditation.
