Very rare severe skin reactions reported with abacavir + lamivudine include erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis, in cases where abacavir hypersensitivity could not be ruled out; abacavir-containing medicines should be permanently discontinued in such cases.
