Prescribing considerations
- Diagnostic use only; administration is restricted to trained staff in a designated nuclear medicine facility.
- Justify radiation exposure individually and keep administered activity as low as reasonably achievable for adequate diagnostic information.
- Ensure hydration and frequent bladder emptying to reduce radiation exposure.
- Interpret uptake with clinical findings, histopathology and/or other diagnostic procedures; uptake is not prostate-cancer-specific and performance may vary with serum PSA.
Contraindications and cautions
- Hypersensitivity to gozetotide, an excipient or a component of the labelled radiopharmaceutical.
- Use particular caution where pregnancy is possible because ionising radiation may cause fetal harm.
- Prevent and manage extravasation according to local policy because the acidic solution may cause irritation and imaging artefacts.
Monitoring
- Confirm preparation quality, appearance and radioactivity using authorised nuclear medicine procedures.
- Monitor the injection site for extravasation or irritation.
- Record and report suspected adverse reactions under additional monitoring arrangements.
- Assess images alongside PSA, relevant anatomy and complementary diagnostic information.
Clinical pharmacology
Gallium-68-labelled gozetotide binds PSMA-expressing cells and enables PET detection. It has no expected pharmacodynamic activity at diagnostic concentrations, undergoes negligible metabolism and is cleared mainly through the kidneys.
Formulation and product differences
- Supplied as a lyophilised powder kit; gallium-68 is not included and must be added before administration.
- The prepared product is a sterile, clear, colourless intravenous solution without visible particles.
- It is a multidose preparation requiring aseptic handling, radiation shielding and designated storage.

Clinically significant medicine interactions are not expected, but give the imaging team a current medicines list.
Other prescribed and non-prescribed medicines
No clinically significant interactions are expected from laboratory data. Regular medicines can generally be taken unless the imaging department advises otherwise.
CYP450 substrates, inhibitors or inducers
Gozetotide is not expected to alter or be materially affected through CYP450 pathways.
