How does methotrexate interact with the antibiotic co-trimoxazole?

Methotrexate with co-trimoxazole has rarely caused bone marrow suppression, sometimes severe, probably due to decreased tubular secretion and/or an additive antifolate effect; concurrent use should probably be avoided.
