GMC registration succeeds when you treat it like a credential project: primary source verification first, then time-limited documents (Certificate of Good Standing), then identity check, then application submission.
Primary Source Verification (PSV) is the gating step
For IMGs, GMC primary medical qualification verification is carried out by ECFMG (a division of Intealth) through the EPIC service accessed via MyIntealth. Start this early; it can be the longest lead-time item.

Step 1 — Build your document set (before PSV)
Prepare: primary medical qualification (degree + final transcript if applicable), passport, name-change evidence (if relevant), and an accurate list of qualification details (exact dates, institutions).

Step 2 — Create/validate your MyIntealth account
Use MyIntealth as your access point. Establish your EPIC Portfolio and ensure your identity record is complete. If you have previously verified credentials, request they be added into your EPIC Portfolio.

Step 3 — Upload credentials and request EPIC verification
Submit your primary medical qualification for EPIC primary source verification. Track status and respond immediately to any institution queries or document clarification requests.

Step 4 — Request an EPIC Report to the GMC
Once the credential is verified, request an EPIC Report for the GMC through MyIntealth. This is the object the GMC uses to confirm verification status.

Step 5 — Secure your Certificate of Good Standing (CoGS)
Request CoGS from your current regulator at the right time. For the GMC, CoGS must be dated within 3 months at the point you submit your application (plan backwards from your intended submission date).

Step 6 — Submit your GMC application
Complete the online application, upload requested evidence, and pay fees. Avoid contradictions: dates and naming must match across PSV records, passport, and qualification documentation.

Step 7 — Complete the ID check (Digidentity Wallet)
The GMC uses Digidentity Wallet for digital identity checks. Use a compatible smartphone, ensure good lighting, and follow the in-app steps for document + face verification.

Step 8 — Close the loop
Monitor GMC Online for requests. Respond within 24 hours. Most delays happen in the “waiting for one missing item” phase.
CoGS timing
Do not order your Certificate of Good Standing too early. If it’s outside the 3-month window at submission, you’ll recycle the whole step and lose weeks.
Speed advantage
If PSV is complete and your CoGS is within window, the remainder is execution: accurate data-entry, fast responses, and a clean Digidentity check.
