Why should patients be tested for hepatitis B before starting adalimumab?

Patients should be tested before starting Humira (adalimumab) because hepatitis B can reactivate in chronic carriers receiving it, sometimes fatally; those testing positive should consult a physician experienced in treating hepatitis B.
