Why does mycophenolate mofetil have a stronger cytostatic effect on lymphocytes than on other cells?

Mycophenolate mofetil’s metabolite MPA inhibits IMPDH and de novo guanosine nucleotide synthesis, on which T- and B-lymphocyte proliferation critically depends, whereas other cell types can use salvage pathways.
