With nitisinone, exfoliative dermatitis, erythematous rash, pruritus and rash are uncommon in hereditary tyrosinaemia type 1; pruritus and rash are common in alkaptonuria, and hyperkeratotic lesions have been associated with elevated tyrosine in both conditions.
