For chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride, reported benzodiazepine effects with high doses or prolonged low doses in the last trimester or labour include fetal heart-rate irregularities, neonatal moderate respiratory depression, hypotonia, poor sucking and hypothermia; chronic maternal use in later pregnancy may cause infant physical dependence and postnatal withdrawal.
