With normal kidney function, co-trimoxazole’s elimination half-lives in adults are 8.6–17 hours for trimethoprim and approximately 9–11 hours for sulfamethoxazole; in children, elimination is age-dependent, being reduced during the first two months of life and faster thereafter.
