Refer a patient with suspected occupational asthma to a specialist for further evaluation as soon as occupational asthma is suspected. This includes any adult with new-onset asthma, poorly controlled asthma, or reappearance of childhood asthma where symptoms worsen at work or improve away from work or on holidays. Early referral to an occupational asthma specialist is recommended to confirm diagnosis and guide management.
