Azithromycin is a prescription-only medicine and cannot be supplied without a valid prescription, PGD or another lawful mechanism. If the pharmacy has no relevant commissioned service, referral for testing and treatment is appropriate. Partner notification does not authorise supply. Using an expired PGD would not be lawful.
