BASHH recommends doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for 7 days as first-line treatment for uncomplicated urogenital, pharyngeal and rectal chlamydia in non-pregnant adults. Partner notification and prevention of reinfection are part of management. Single-dose azithromycin is no longer recommended as routine first-line treatment because of efficacy and antimicrobial-resistance concerns.
