Doxycycline can cause oesophageal irritation, so it should be taken with plenty of water and the patient should remain upright afterwards. Photosensitivity counselling is also important for someone working outdoors. Dairy products can reduce absorption, depending on timing and formulation advice. Adherence and sexual health safety-netting should be reinforced.
