Minor dental procedures often do not require interruption of DOAC therapy, but the dentist should be aware and local haemostatic measures can be used. Stopping anticoagulation unnecessarily increases stroke risk. Aspirin is not an appropriate substitute for AF anticoagulation. More invasive dental treatment may need an individual plan based on bleeding and thrombotic risk.
