Sertraline is a prescription only medicine, but emergency supply at the request of a patient is lawful when the pharmacist is satisfied there is an immediate need and other conditions are met. The pharmacist must interview the patient, assess prior treatment and make appropriate records. A PGD is not needed for this route. The quantity should be appropriate, subject to legal maxima for the medicine category.
