Oral terbinafine can rarely cause hepatotoxicity, so liver function assessment is commonly arranged before and sometimes during treatment. Patients should report symptoms such as unexplained nausea, anorexia, dark urine, pale stools or jaundice. Topical treatments may be considered where oral therapy is unsuitable.
