GLP-1 receptor agonists commonly cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea or constipation, especially during dose escalation. Severe persistent abdominal pain may suggest pancreatitis and requires urgent assessment. Metformin is often continued unless tolerability or renal function requires review.
