Patiromer can bind some oral medicines and reduce their gastrointestinal absorption. The current SmPC identifies reduced bioavailability with levothyroxine and shows that separating administration by 3 hours prevents the interaction. It also reports no clinically relevant interaction requiring separation for amlodipine, clopidogrel, furosemide or warfarin. The whole medication list should still be checked when therapy changes.
