MART uses a suitable ICS-formoterol inhaler for both maintenance and reliever treatment, within the prescribed maximum daily inhalations. This should reduce reliance on SABA and provide anti-inflammatory treatment when symptoms worsen. The patient should be shown the written action plan and advised when to seek urgent help.
