Correct answer: B — Take with plenty of water while upright and use sun protection

Doxycycline can cause oesophageal irritation, so it should be taken with plenty of water and the patient should remain upright after dosing. It can also cause photosensitivity, making sun protection and avoidance of intense sunlight important. Antacids and dairy products can reduce absorption if taken close to the dose. Crushing capsules is not appropriate counselling for routine use.
