Correct answer: D — Rifampicin can markedly reduce hormonal contraceptive effectiveness

Rifampicin is a potent enzyme inducer and can substantially reduce hormonal contraceptive exposure. A method unaffected by enzyme induction, such as a copper intrauterine device or depot injection in appropriate circumstances, may be considered with specialist advice. The risk is contraceptive failure. Pregnancy testing is not made unreliable by rifampicin in this way.
