Correct answer: A — Take with plain water on rising and remain upright before food or drink

Alendronic acid can irritate the oesophagus and has poor absorption with food or drinks other than plain water. The patient should take it on rising, remain upright and avoid food, drink and other medicines for the recommended interval. Chewing can worsen irritation. Calcium taken at the same time reduces absorption.
