Regulation 219 permits an electronic prescription created in electronic form, signed with an advanced electronic signature and sent as an electronic communication. For Schedule 2 or 3 controlled drugs it must be transmitted through the Electronic Prescription Service. The printed token and downstream dispensing records support workflow but do not replace the signed electronic prescription.
