The correct site is the anterolateral aspect of the middle third of the thigh, over the vastus lateralis. Current UK SmPCs specify this site for both adrenaline auto-injectors and intramuscular adrenaline used to treat anaphylaxis. The needle must be long enough to reach muscle. The deltoid is not the recommended alternative site for emergency adrenaline and should not be presented as such, because this would make option A appear defensible. Gluteal administration should be avoided because delivery may be unreliable and local vasoconstriction can contribute to tissue necrosis. The calf and forearm are also not recommended administration sites. Therefore, A is the single best answer.
