TEGDMA is a relatively low-viscosity, polymerisable dimethacrylate used as a reactive diluent in the organic resin matrix. It reduces the very high viscosity of Bis-GMA, improving manipulation and monomer mobility; it becomes incorporated into the polymer network during curing. A silane such as an organosilane coupling agent, not TEGDMA, bonds inorganic filler to the resin matrix. Photoinitiation is usually provided by a system such as camphorquinone with a co-initiator. Inhibitors are separate additives used to limit premature polymerisation during storage. Fluoride release depends on fluoride-containing fillers or other phases and is not an intrinsic function of TEGDMA.
