The correct answer is **dentinogenesis imperfecta**. When associated with osteogenesis imperfecta, it is conventionally termed type I dentinogenesis imperfecta. Abnormal type I collagen affects dentine, producing opalescent blue-grey or amber teeth, bulbous crowns, cervical constriction and progressive pulpal obliteration. Enamel may subsequently fracture because it lacks normal dentinal support. Amelogenesis imperfecta and enamel hypoplasia primarily affect enamel and do not explain pulpal obliteration. Regional odontodysplasia is a localised developmental defect producing poorly mineralised “ghost teeth”. Taurodontism produces enlarged, elongated pulp chambers with apically displaced furcations—the opposite of the obliterated pulp spaces described. Not every patient with osteogenesis imperfecta develops dentinogenesis imperfecta.
