A 28-year-old woman is diagnosed with Graves disease after presenting with weight loss, tremor and palpitations. TFTs show suppressed TSH and markedly elevated free T4 and free T3. Thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulin is positive and there is a diffuse goitre without nodules. She is not pregnant and has no significant comorbidities. What is the most appropriate initial treatment?
