How does rocuronium bromide work?
Rocuronium competes with acetylcholine at nicotinic receptors where motor nerves meet skeletal muscle. This prevents nerve signals activating the muscle, producing temporary paralysis without causing muscle depolarisation.

How to take rocuronium bromide
Rocuronium is not self-administered. It is given into a vein as an injection or infusion in a setting equipped for anaesthesia, airway management and controlled ventilation.
The clinician checks neuromuscular blockade and recovery during and after administration.
It is used with general anaesthesia or appropriate sedation and pain relief; rocuronium itself does not cause unconsciousness or relieve pain.
Food does not affect this intravenous treatment, although separate fasting instructions may apply for anaesthesia or surgery.
