How to take naproxen + sumatriptan
Use only as directed on the prescription and product leaflet for a diagnosed migraine.
Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Do not split, crush or chew it, as this can alter intended absorption.

- Severe allergy, including breathing difficulty or facial or throat swelling
- Persistent or severe chest pain or tightness
- Gastrointestinal ulceration or bleeding, including black stools or vomiting blood
- Heart attack, abnormal heart rhythm or stroke symptoms
- Serotonin syndrome, with agitation or confusion, sweating, fever, diarrhoea or muscle twitching
- Severe blistering, peeling or widespread rash
- Kidney failure, which may cause reduced urination, breathlessness or swelling
- Seizures or severe new visual disturbance
naproxen + sumatriptan in pregnancy
The combination is contraindicated during the third trimester. During the first or second trimester, it should be used only when considered absolutely necessary by a prescriber. Naproxen exposure from week 20 can reduce amniotic fluid or constrict the fetal ductus arteriosus.

Both components pass into breast milk. The selected product's SmPC advises avoiding the combination during breastfeeding because of possible effects on the infant; discuss alternatives with a prescriber or pharmacist.

Other triptans or ergotamine-type treatments
Combining their blood-vessel effects can increase the risk of coronary vasospasm and is contraindicated.
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
They can substantially increase sumatriptan exposure; concurrent or recent use is contraindicated.
SSRIs, SNRIs or lithium
These may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome; SSRIs can also increase gastrointestinal bleeding risk with naproxen.
