How does disodium phosphate dodecahydrate + sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate work?
The phosphate salts retain water in the bowel by osmosis. This increases fluid in the rectum, softens its contents and encourages evacuation. Rectal absorption is usually limited, but important phosphate and electrolyte changes can occur, particularly with retention or in susceptible people.
How to take disodium phosphate dodecahydrate + sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate
Use only through the rectum and follow the pack or procedure-unit instructions. The bottle may be used at room temperature or gently warmed in water. Lie on your side with your knees bent, insert the appropriate nozzle gently and squeeze the bottle. Stop if there is pain or resistance; never force it. Remain near a toilet, maintain clear-fluid intake when permitted and follow any fasting instructions for your procedure.
Do not swallow the solution.
Check whether the pack has a standard nozzle or a separate long-tube applicator.
Some leakage or solution remaining in the bottle can occur.
Wash your hands before and after use and dispose of the bottle after use.
