Glycoengineering obinutuzumab’s Fc region increases affinity for FcγRIII receptors on natural killer cells, macrophages and monocytes, improving recruitment against CD20-positive B cells and, in nonclinical studies, enhancing antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity and phagocytosis compared with non-glycoengineered antibodies at equivalent doses.
