How can epoetin alfa affect platelet counts?

Answer

Epoetin alfa may cause a moderate, dose-dependent platelet count rise within the normal range that regresses with continued therapy; thrombocythaemia above the normal range has also been reported, and regular platelet monitoring is recommended during the first 8 weeks.
