“If salary can’t shift, could we explore a one-time sign-on, relocation support, or a start-date adjustment that reduces transition friction?”

Script 6 — US/Canada/Aus: Contract Hygiene

“Can we walk through termination terms, non-compete language (if any), and who carries malpractice/indemnity? I’m aligning expectations now so we don’t create problems later.”

NHS-Specific Angle

Where pay is structurally constrained, negotiation is won in the job plan: SPA time, clinic templates, supervision/mentorship, waiting list initiatives with defined support, and realistic admin load. That’s how you protect quality and prevent burnout.
