Why is Calceos contraindicated in severe renal impairment?

Calceos is contraindicated in severe renal impairment (glomerular filtration rate below 30 ml/min) because colecalciferol, its vitamin D3, is not metabolised normally in these patients and other forms of vitamin D3 must be used.
