Rare serious allergic reactions reported with febuxostat magnesium include life-threatening Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute anaphylactic reaction/shock and Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS), sometimes involving fever or haematological, renal or hepatic effects.
