Answer
Amikacin injection treats serious infections caused by susceptible Gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas, short-term; although not first choice, it may treat known or suspected staphylococcal disease when initiating therapy for severe suspected Gram-negative or staphylococcal infections, in patients allergic to other antibiotics, or in mixed staphylococcal/Gram-negative infections.
