Tegretol (carbamazepine) tablets treat generalised tonic-clonic and partial seizures and paroxysmal pain of trigeminal neuralgia, and prevent manic-depressive psychosis in patients unresponsive to lithium; they are not usually effective for absence or myoclonic seizures and may worsen atypical absences.
