Recommended imaging modality for initial assessment of suspected meningioma in primary care:

  • Offer standard structural MRI as the initial diagnostic test for suspected meningioma, unless MRI is contraindicated.
  • This MRI should include T2 weighted, FLAIR, DWI series and T1 pre- and post-contrast volume sequences.
  • If bone involvement is suspected, consider CT imaging if not already performed.

These imaging recommendations aim to accurately identify and characterise meningiomas to guide further management.
