What follow-up testing is recommended after treatment for H. pylori to confirm eradication?

Re-testing for Helicobacter pylori after treatment should be performed at least 4–8 weeks post-therapy, using a carbon-13 urea breath test as the first-line option, or a stool antigen test if the breath test is unavailable, ensuring the patient has not taken PPIs in the past 2 weeks or antibiotics in the past 4 weeks .

If re-testing is positive, second-line eradication therapy should be prescribed .
