Many paragangliomas, particularly SDHx-related disease, express somatostatin receptors and are well demonstrated by gallium-68-labelled somatostatin-analogue PET/CT. The scan can also assess suitability for peptide-receptor radionuclide therapy. MIBG-negative disease will not be characterised by repeating unrelated thyroid or parathyroid nuclear studies.
