Local vaginal oestrogen is effective for genitourinary symptoms of menopause and can be used with moisturisers or lubricants. Negative cultures and atrophic mucosa make recurrent bacterial UTI less likely. Urgent cancer referral is driven by suspicious symptoms such as postmenopausal bleeding or lesions, not uncomplicated atrophy. Cervical cautery is not relevant.
