Correct answer: BPeritoneal dialysis

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is the preferred chronic dialysis modality in young children. It allows home-based therapy, avoids vascular access difficulties, preserves residual renal function better than HD, and allows greater flexibility for families. Automated PD (APD) with overnight cycling is most commonly used. Transplantation remains the gold standard for long-term RRT.
