The Australian NIP schedule provides hepatitis B vaccine (H-B-Vax II) at birth, ideally within 24 hours and within the first 7 days of life. BCG is not part of the universal NIP schedule but is recommended for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in high-incidence areas and other specific populations. DTPa-containing, rotavirus and pneumococcal vaccines commence at 2 months.
