Correct answer: BMental/incisive nerve block provides buccal anaesthesia for premolars

The mental/incisive nerve block provides buccal soft tissue anaesthesia (buccal mucosa and gingiva) for the mandibular premolars, canine, and incisors. The injection is performed at or near the mental foramen (typically located between the apices of the mandibular premolars). The long buccal nerve block is used for the buccal soft tissues of the mandibular molars only. The IAN block alone provides pulpal and lingual anaesthesia but does NOT reliably anaesthetise the buccal soft tissues of the premolars without supplemental mental nerve block.
