IADT guidelines recommend a flexible (passive) splint using a thin stainless-steel wire (0.3-0.4 mm) or nylon fishing line bonded to the labial surfaces of the replanted tooth and at least one adjacent tooth on each side with composite resin. The flexible splint allows physiological tooth movement, which promotes PDL healing and reduces ankylosis risk. Rigid splints increase the likelihood of replacement resorption. The splint should be easily applied and removed and should not impinge on the gingiva.
